Due to interest from Chelsea FC in signing Dean Henderson, the goalkeeper is said to be unsure about agreeing upon a new contract with Manchester United. Henderson has played the 2019-20 season on loan at Sheffield United from his parent club.
There are rumors floating around that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may give David de Gea the axe following the Spaniard’s poor run of form this season. However, contrary reports indicate the possibility of such an event is quite low. Many expect De Gea to be a regular starter for the Red Devils next season as well.
According to reports, the 23-year old Henderson is holding up the renewal of his current deal with Manchester United. He is said to have been wanting greater assurances about his first-team involvement in the 2020-21 campaign for Solskjaer’s side.
Sources close to Manchester United claim that the shot-stopper may seek a move elsewhere if not promised a first-team spot in the club’s squad. The Blues have become increasingly keen on signing the United loanee on a permanent basis this summer.
Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard is believed to have greenlighted a transfer approach for Henderson. The Blues manager does not see Kepa continuing as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper come next season. The Spaniard has been subject to a rebuke from the Chelsea FC supporters after his social media actions and horrid showings in recent games.
The Blues are so desperate to land Henderson this summer that the club are even willing to more than double his current wages. The 23-year old is rumored to be offered a £170,000-a-week deal to lure him to making the move to Stamford Bridge.
The 2019-20 Premier League season has been a spectacular one for Henderson. The former England U-21 international has been a crucial part of the Blades side that exceeded all expectations to finish ninth in the final Premier League standings.
In the 36 league outings made by the 23-year old goalkeeper this season; he has kept thirteen clean sheets. Henderson certainly has been one of the surprise bigwig performers of the recently concluded Premier League season.
