Manchester United have reportedly emerged as the new contenders to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount whose future at Stamford Bridge remains up in the air.
Mount’s talks with the Chelsea camp over signing a new deal have hit a roadblock with the England international playmaker demanding a major hike in wages on par with the club’s new signing Raheem Sterling and teammate Reece James.
The Blues could be forced into a sale of their attacking talent over the coming summer with Premier League rivals Liverpool eyeing up a move for Mount as Jurgen Klopp looks to revamp his midfield for the next season.
According to The Guardian, however, joining the Merseysiders in pursuit of the 24-year-old are Manchester United who are on the search for a new signing in the attacking midfield department and have identified Mount as a potential target.
A £50 million fee could be all it takes for United to sign Mount this coming summer as Chelsea would be ready to cash in on the Englishman sooner rather than later with the player’s contract due to expire in 2024.
