Manchester United are all but certain to return with an improved second offer for Mason Mount after Chelsea turned down a £40 million bid for the player.
Mount has one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and there is an expectation that the England international is keen to make the move elsewhere over the summer with top clubs across the land keeping tabs on his situation.
Manchester United will be back for a second bid for Mason Mount. #CFC rejected the initial £40m offer near-instantly. There remains a high probability Mount will leave and he's keen on the #MUFC move. Chelsea sticking to their valuation for now and #MUFC won't go above £60m. pic.twitter.com/HKcMie86VE

According to a report from CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs, United who have been tipped as the frontrunners for the 24-year-old’s signature will table an improved bid with manager Eric ten Hag keen to bring Mount to Old Trafford.
United are aware that the player wants in on Ten Hag’s project but the Red Devils will not pay north of the £60 million mark for Mount who is set to enter the final 12 months of his current terms in west London.
The former Derby County starlet’s uncertain contract status could force Chelsea to lower their asking price in the coming weeks which is what the United camp could be holding out for as they look to sign one of the Premier League’s coveted names.
