Lyon set to battle AC Milan for Tiémoué Bakayoko’s signing

Shock Champions League semi-finalists Lyon are rumored to enter the race to sign Chelsea FC outcast Tiémoué Bakayoko. Despite not registering concrete interest in signing the 25-year old midfielder this summer, the Ligue 1 outfit are hopeful of securing Bakayoko’s signing on the cheap.

Recent reports suggest that the French club have made contact with Frank Lampard’s side over a deal for Bakayoko ahead of the 2020-21 season. Lyon wants to bolster their midfield ranks following a dismal seventh-place finish in the Ligue 1 last season.

AC Milan, however, remains in pole position to secure Bakayoko’s signing this summer. The Serie A giants are in constant negotiations with Chelsea FC over a loan-to-buy offer for the French international.

Bakayoko is also understood to be open to the idea of sealing a move to Milan after it has been made clear that his future in the Chelsea FC shirt is all but over. The 26-year old has been shipped off on two consecutive loan spells prior to the coming season. He had spent the 2018-19 season on loan at the San Siro outfit and had managed to regain his previous run of consistent form.
