Lyon have reportedly turned down Chelsea’s request to recall wing-back Emerson Palmieri from his season-long loan stint at the Ligue 1 outfit.
The Italian international defender was deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge by Thomas Tuchel in the summer and was allowed to head out on a loan spell with Lyon landing his signature.
Tuchel, however, has been forced to hunt for cover in the wing-back role following a long-term injury to his first-choice option Ben Chilwell who looks set to miss the remainder of the campaign after undergoing surgery.
According to reports from the French news outlet L’Equipe via Get French Football News, it is claimed that Lyon are not willing to send back the 27-year-old Emerson to the English capital despite Chelsea putting in a request for recall.
Chelsea could be forced into scouting the market when the Janaury transfer window opens at the turn of the year with Everton outcast Lucas Dinge rumoured to be lined up as an emergency signing.
