Lyon have registered their interest in signing Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri with the Italy international backed to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Emerson has fallen down the pecking order in the Chelsea camp and last summer’s arrival of Ben Chilwell has meant sparse first-team involvement for the former in the Blues shirt.
The onset of the summer transfer window, however, has given a chance to the former Roma wing-back to call it quits at the Bridge with Serie A giants Napoli tipped to be leading the race to land his signature.
Sébastien Denis claims that joining the fray for the Stamford Bridge outcast is Ligue 1 heavyweights Lyon who are scouting the transfer market this time around for a new left-back and have identified Emerson as a viable target.
Chelsea’s inflated asking price for the Euros-winning Azzuri star is likely to upset Lyon with issues on the financial front rampant amongst the Ligue 1 clubs but it remains to be seen whether Thomas Tuchel will be willing to accept a cut-price offer for the defender.
