Former Liverpool and current Barcelona star forward Luis Suarez has admitted that he is an admirer of Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham who has surprised everyone with his form for Chelsea this season.
Abraham has scored 11 goals for Chelsea this season, 10 of which have come in the Premier League. Many fans and pundits were skeptical whether Abraham could cut it out in the Premier League despite a prolific season on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship last season.
But the England international has put those doubts to bed after impressing Lampard with his goals this season and has firmly established himself as the first-choice striker this season.
And now it has emerged that Abraham has admirers abroad as well as home.
Suarez, who scored 82 goals in 133 games for Liverpool before helping Barcelona win four La Liga titles, has heaped praise on Abraham and described the striker as ‘incredible’
‘There are many young strikers who are playing very well this season,’ Suarez told OneFootball. ‘Personally, I have a certain number of young and old strikers that I like to see them because of their skills.
‘For example, I like Tammy Abraham, Chelsea’s No 9. In my opinion, he is an incredible striker with good finishing and who moves incredibly despite his youth. ‘Another one is Maxi Gómez and not only because he is from Uruguay, but also because he has a lot of characteristics and skills which are the ones that big teams are looking for in one striker. Obviously, Lautaro Martínez is playing at a high level this season too.’
Abraham suffered an injury during Chelsea’s Champions League draw with Valencia on Wednesday and although it initially looked serious Lampard and Abraham both played down the seriousness of the injury but he will miss Saturday’s Premier League clash against West Ham.
