Leicester City are said to have turned down Chelsea’s third bid for Wesley Fofana with the centre-back now training with the club’s reserve squad, according to a report from Goal.
Fofana is Thomas Tuchel’s priority target in this summer’s transfer window with the Chelsea head coach keen to bring in the 21-year-old to bolster his backline for the new season.
Leicester, however, have appeared far from open to sanctioning Fofana’s sale to the Stamford Bridge giants despite the latter’s readyness to fork out a big-money sum to land the French defender’s signature before September 1’s deadline.
Chelsea’s latest bid was reportedly in the region of £60 million plus add-ons but that has not convinced Leicester to part ways with Fofana with the Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers suggesting that the player was not living up to his contractual obligations.
The Blues have been very public in their pursuit of Fofana who is seen as the answer to fixing Chelsea’s depleted backline with Tuchel looking to add reinforcements after losing the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen this summer.
