Brendan Rodgers came out with lavishing praise for Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount with the Leicester City boss singling out the England international for his performance on the pitch in the aftermath of Tuesday’s game between the two sides.
Chelsea emerged victors from a much-important fixture at Stamford Bridge and kept their top-four hopes alive courtesy of goals from Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho to seal a 2-1 win over the Foxes who had defeated them just days prior in the FA Cup final.
Reports from The Metro claim that Mount was hailed by the Foxes gaffer who called the midfield a top talent in world football and said that the Chelsea academy should feel proud of his progress as an incredible player on the pitch.
‘We’re coming up against a team who are in the Champions League final,’ said Rodgers.
‘They’ve shown consistently that they’ve got top-class players.
‘I want to mention Mason Mount because this is a young guy I’d heard early on in the season there was maybe doubts around him, whether he should be playing or not for Chelsea.
‘This boy is top, top level. They can be very proud of him here at Chelsea, the academy, he’s an incredible footballer and he’s going to be that.’
The 22-year-old Mount had recently been subject to praise from his coach Thomas Tuchel as well with the Chelsea boss saying that the player was pivotal towards Chelsea’s push for Champions League qualification in what remains of the ongoing Premier League season.
