The visitors did not take long to open the scoring as Ben Chilwell found the back of the net against his former side after Koulibaly kept the  half-cleared set-piece in play and the former scored from a tight angle.

Leicester had an immediate response coming on the other end of the pitch as Daniel Amartey headed wide from a James Maddison free-kick across the goal.

A brilliant build up play between the Chelsea front three could have resulted in Felix netting the second for his only for the on-loan Portuguese to be denied by the frame.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall too had his effort spun back off the crossbar and Chelsea were able to hang onto their slender one-goal lead but just for the time being.

Leicester levelled the affair after Felix lost possession in his own half and the Foxes frontman Daka slotted past Kepa at the near post.

Felix was denied for a second time in the game when his goal was chalked off after a VAR check and Chelsea headed into the interval with another goal to show for dominance as Kai Havertz lobbed over the Leicester goalie.

Havertz fired high and wide in the opening stages of the second period as Chelsea had one change off the bench at half time- Conor Gallagher coming on to replace Felix.

Chelsea were granted a major respite as Dewsbury-Hall failed to slot into a half-empty goal and Kepa was able to collect the ball much to the relief of the Blues.

Mudryk teed up midfielder Mateo Kovacic for the third goal with the latter flicking his strike past Danny Ward to all but ensure the win for his side.
