Newly promoted Leeds United have been offered the opportunity to sign Chelsea FC outcast Michy Batshuayi this summer. The Belgian international’s chances of leaving the Blues ahead of next season are considered very certain.
Batshuayi has failed to make a foray into Frank Lampard’s first-team squad at Stamford Bridge this season. The Belgian has been outclassed by fellow strikers Tammy Abraham and Oliver Giroud in the club’s pecking order. Moreover, the player himself is believed to keen on securing a move elsewhere this summer with next year’s UEFA Euros in mind.
The 26-year old forward is hoping to make the cut for Roberto Martinez’s Belgium squad for the competition next year. However, Batshuayi will have to get ample first-team involvement to prove his worth to Martinez.
With just a year remaining on his current Chelsea FC deal, the West London club are understood to be wanting £25 million to let the striker leave this summer. Premier League new-boys Leeds United are reportedly in the fray to make a move for Batshuayi.
The Belgian international had worked with current Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa during their time together at Ligue 1 outfit Marseille. Bielsa’s prior association with the 26-year old Blues forward might help his side in securing Batshuayi’s signature, according to reports.
