According to the Evening Standard, Leeds United have expressed interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Ethan Ampadu and they have reportedly made a bid for him.
Ampadu, who has been out of favour in the Chelsea first team recently, is being considered by Leeds. The Blues are currently evaluating the offer made for the player.
The 22-year-old was initially included in Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the United States. However, it appears likely that he will have to remain in England as a potential move to Leeds is being negotiated.
Ampadu has attracted interest from clubs in England, Spain, and Italy, but the Whites are currently the only team to have made an offer for him. The player is reportedly close to joining them permanently.
Chelsea have placed a price tag of £12 million on Ampadu, who is known for his versatility. While his preferred position is midfield, he is capable of filling in as a right-back or centre-back if needed.

With only one year left on his contract, the Blues are keen to sell Ampadu now to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2024.
Ampadu joined Chelsea in 2017, with the then-sporting director, Michael Emenalo, taking a gamble on signing the promising youngster. Since joining the Blues, Ampadu has struggled to secure a regular spot in the team, making only 12 appearances for the club.
His loan spells at RB Leipzig, Sheffield United, Venezia, and Spezia did not yield successful stints, with all three clubs suffering relegation during his time there. Consequently, Ampadu seems poised to find a permanent new club.
Chelsea have been actively trimming their squad this summer, parting ways with several high-profile players. However, their squad overhaul is not yet complete, as they still have a few players they intend to offload.

The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, and Callum Hudson-Odoi are among the players who remain on Chelsea’s roster but are reportedly seeking moves away.
Ampadu could be the next player to depart Stamford Bridge, as Leeds are nearing an agreement for his transfer.
