Former Chelsea star, Alan Hudson considers that Chelsea coach Frank Lampard has made a terrible mistake by letting Tariq Lamptey leave Stamford Bridge for Brighton and Hove Albion. Hudson remarked the decision to be “wrong” from Lampard’s part as the young defender joined with Brighton this season.
The talented full-back is a product of the Chelsea academy, who progressed through the ranks in order to break into the senior squad. But coach, Lampard gave him one first-team starting before he left Chelsea.
Brighton was elated to get the services of the 20-year-old fullback and offered him a stage in the Premier League to thrive and showcase his immense potential.
Till now, he has performed in every single opportunity he has got with his speedy movements and incredible positioning. He ha been productive in both the defending and attacking phases for Brighton.
“I look at the young lad Lamptey they sold to Brighton, who has impressed me hugely,” Hudson said as per the CaughtOffside news.
“I would have kept him as he is most definitely one for the future.
“He has been outstanding at Brighton since lockdown. He’s quick at turning defence into attack, which is something Chelsea lack – real pace with quality at the end of it.”
“I think Frank Lampard got this one wrong.”
Hudson is of the opinion that the Blues could have utilized by keeping him despite Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James already battling for the right-back position.
Lamptey pushed for the exits due as he was convinced that he won’t get minutes in the Stamford Bridge which would hamper his developments as a player. It is a questionable decision that Lampard will forever regret as per Hudson.
