According to the latest reports, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is desperate to splash the cash in the summer transfer window for new signings and lure in top players at the club to bolster his squad.
The Blues have had a great start to the campaign so far under Lampard’s first year in charge of the team and despite having had a dip in form over the past few weeks Chelsea still finds themselves inside the top four.
There was a huge sigh of relief when Chelsea’s transfer ban was halved which meant that they could sign players in the January transfer window but too much of the surprise, the West London side did not decide to sign any player in the winter. Although Chelsea is still managing the grind out the results, Lampard is aware that his young squad might need some experience and solidify in the summer.
Chelsea is still alive in three competitions as well and if they manage to secure a Champions League berth, the Blues could attract some of their transfer targets. Lampard admitted his frustration at the lack of transfers following the end of the transfer window in January but explained that he wants at least four signings in the summer.
With £150 million to spend in the summer transfer window, the 41-year-old Englishman said, “I wouldn’t say [it’s] frustrating as I am very aware of how football is. Some things are not in my control. My first thought as always is what happens on the training pitch. It’s clear that we wanted to bring players in. I certainly wanted to bring players in. I think I’ve made that pretty clear over the last few weeks and it hasn’t happened.”
Lampard is keen on signing a left back, a center back, an attacking midfielder as well as a striker in the summer.
