Frank Lampard has put an end to all the rumors regarding Kante’s exit. He is being tipped to join former Chelsea boss and current Inter Milan boss, Antonio Conte this summer.
The 29-year-old midfielder has already been subject to a bid by Inter Milan. It is reported that the Italian club has offered an even bigger proposition after getting rejected from Chelsea in their first attempt.
However, the World Cup winner still remains a crucial part of Frank Lampard’s plans for the club. The Blues boss is not accepting any offer for the midfielder and expects him to become a fundamental player he was for Chelsea.
“I think pretty much every club in the world would want N’Golo Kante,” Lampard told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I have seen those reports as well. He is an incredible player and person and I certainly don’t want to lose him. He’s fundamental in terms of what I’m trying to do.
“We can obviously talk about the attacking players we have but someone like N’Golo and the work he does in midfield… It was a difficult year for him last year because of the injuries.
“He came into the season with an injury and it was a domino effect through the year. It was probably a culmination of four or five years of games, so I’m really excited to have him fit. He looks fresh, he’s a big deal to me.
N’golo Kante had a very difficult 2019/20 campaign which was hit with injuries throughout.
Due to this reason, he didn’t have the consistency of matches he is used to. His form was very poor and he went down the pecking order as Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid shined.
Chelsea will play Brighton in the season opener. Kante will replace the suspended Kovacic in this match. He’s surely looking forward to this season to cement his position once again.
