Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted that Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi will not be leaving the club this summer transfer window despite the fact that he has fallen down the pecking order behind Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham.
The Blues are still in search of their first win of the new season under Frank Lampard’s regime after the Englishman took over in the summer. Unfortunately, Lampard did not have the chance to sign any new players from the transfer market as Chelsea faced a transfer ban which refutes them from luring any players into the club over the next two transfer windows.
With the European transfer window closing on 2nd September, Lampard will have the chance to offload some of the players at Chelsea as their services aren’t required at the London club. But Lampard has confirmed that 25-year-old Michy Batshuayi will play a part for Chelsea in the future even though he has fallen down the pecking order at the club.
Batshuayi was linked with a loan move to Crystal Palace or a return to Borussia Dortmund but the 41-year-old Chelsea manager explained that the Belgian is competing for a spot in the starting eleven against Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham, “The future is Michy is here as one of our strikers. We have three strikers this year and there will be opportunities for him. With Michy it’s important that he trains at a top, top-level every day gets himself absolutely fit to play the way I want my strikers to play, which will be a constant movement – on and off the ball – and obviously to try and score goals. He’s very much our player and competing with Tammy and Ollie for that space”
