Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard has asked his young winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi to have patience in what he is aiming for so that he can become a regular player for the first-team of the west London club.
The 20 years old Chelsea academy graduate has been delivering impressive performances lately whenever he is getting the chance and seems like Lampard is happy to see him grabbing the opportunities.
Lampard also pointed out the composure he maintained in receiving the ball and making the delicate touches to keep the ball in control while progressing toward the opposition goal before he finished it calmly. He gave a good appreciation to Callum and considers that he has a bright future ahead in the West London club.
“I am seeing constant improvements from him; I knew he’d had a couple of good performances for the England Under-21s last week,” Lampard said as per Chelsea’s website.
“I know he wants more minutes, but I have competition in that area. If he isn’t getting minutes in a period it doesn’t mean he is out of favor with me. He certainly isn’t. He is still a developing player, to a degree.
“The bit of quality he shows with the first two touches before he got his shot away was top class; I know he can do that. There are loads of great things about Callum, and I know there are things he can improve in his game. He knows that. He is a big player for Chelsea, he has a big future with us. His all-round game was fantastic, and he got his goal too,” he added.
So far in this current campaign, he has netted three goals in 11 matches in all competitions for the Blues in this campaign. It was Callum Hudson who scored the first goal of the match from Mason Mount’s delivery in the Champions League group stage matches against Ligue 1 side, Rennes.
The goal came after he made a quick sprint up the right-wing to deliver a fantastic ball which Timo Werner needed just to tap in. To everyone’s surprise, Werner missed just six yards away from the net in a ridiculous way.
Giroud’s late winner sealed the match with a 2-1 scoreline and that ensured them as the first club this season to progress to the knock out round of the Champions League.
