Chelsea could look to offload fringe first-teamer Kurt Zouma in the summer amid reports from The Athletic suggesting that the west Londoners were keen to add to their centre-back options ahead of next season’s commencement.
Recently appointed to the top job at Stamford Bridge, Thomas Tuchel has brought around a massive turnaround in the club’s fortunes and speculation claims that the former Paris Saint-Germain boss is wanting to shore up his defensive names in the summer transfer window.
With Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule and Atletico Madrid star centre-back Jose Gimenez high on Tuchel’s wishlist, it seems as if it could mark the end of Zouma’s tenure in the Chelsea colours following the Frenchman being relegated to the bench in the aftermath of Tuchel’s hiring.
Despite having started the recent win over Everton in Premier League action on Monday, Zouma has fallen out of favour with the new Chelsea manager, who has instead chosen to draft the Rudiger-Christensen pairing in the heart of the four-man backline for the Blues.
There had been rumours of Zouma’s exit last summer as well but Frank Lampard had stood tall in his decision to retain the highly-rated France international and give him a regular role in the Chelsea XI week in and week out.
