Kante Back In Training Ahead of Lille Clash

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante took part in the clubs’ first-team training session on Tuesday and the Frenchman is back in contention to face Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Kante missed the 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday due to a hamstring complaint that he picked up in the game against Liverpool. He scored a wonderful goal against Jurgen Klopp’s side in the 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge but what was worse that he picked up another knock.

The 28-year-old box to box midfielder has managed only three starts in matches under Frank Lampard across all competitions in 2019-20 so far due to a succession of injuries and has only played in three of their seven opening Premier League games.

But in a late boost for Chelsea ahead of their trip to France on Wednesday night, Kante took part in a training session at Cobham and could be available for the meeting with Lille on at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, where Chelsea will look to record their first Champions League win of the season.

Lampard’s side was beaten 1-0 by Valencia at Stamford Bridge on matchday one and face a tough trip to last season’s semi-finalists Ajax on October 23 in a bid to try and qualify to the next stages.
