Chelsea has been dealt a blow after N’Golo Kante suffered a muscle injury on international duty. the midfielder picked up an injury in the pre-match warm-ups. He subsequently missed France’s 1-0 win over Iceland.
However, Les Blues coach Didier Deschamps had a positive injury update on N’Golo Kante revealing that he was withdrawn as a precaution.
Asked whether Kante would play against Turkey, Deschamps said: “I do not think it’s too serious for NG [Kante], but I do not have an answer tonight.”
Kante has had a stop-start to the season due to injury problems which started since he played the Europa League final against Arsenal last season with a knee injury.
He missed pre-season to recover from injury and made his first start of the season in the Euro Super Cup penalty defeat against Liverpool.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has used the French international sparingly this season but he looked to have finally put his injury troubles behind him when he started Chelsea’s last two games against Lille and Southampton respectively.
Kante’s injury will come as a huge blow to Lampard with Chelsea looking shaky in defense and Kante saw as the ideal midfielder to provide cover to Chelsea’s shaky backline.
Chelsea has won their last five games in all competitions and there is a certain feel-good factor around Stamford Bridge with plenty of academy graduates being given an opportunity in the first team by Frank Lampard.
Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, and Fikayo Tomori have all impressed this season, earning a call up to the England national team.
