Kai Havertz to return to the Chelsea fold following negative COVID-19 test result

Kai Havertz is confirmed to be in line for a return to the Chelsea fold following a negative COVID-19 test result ahead of the Wolves clash.

The Blues camp was hit a major crisis in the build-up to Thursday night’s stalemate against Everton with four Chelsea players Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odo testing positive for coronavirus.

Thomas Tuchel, however, had some much-needed respite to offer to the fans in his pre-match presser on Friday with the gaffer saying that Havertz had a negative test result and will be in the fray to make the squad.

“We are happy Kai has a negative results and is back in training but the lottery starts again tomorrow.”

In the absence of both Werner and Lukaku, two strikers Tuchel has employed for his side for the majority of this season, Havertz’s availability come Sunday in the Midlands will be a major boost for the Chelsea manager.

The Germany international Havertz had occupied the central striking role for the Blues when Werner and Lukaku had served spell on the sidelines with injury troubles.
