Germany international Kai Havertz was back in team training for Chelsea ahead of the Zenit clash for Thomas Tuchel’s side in the Champions League.
Havertz had emerged as a doubt on the injury front for the Blues boss Tuchel after limping off at half-time during the weekend defeat to city rivals West Ham United in the derby game.
According to reports from the club’s official website, it has been sounded out that Havertz would be in the mix to make the squad for Chelsea when they take on Zenit in their final Champions League group stage outing.
His return will come as a major boost for the Chelsea camp who have had their marquee summer signing Romleu Lukaku limited to cameos off the bench in recent games owing to his latest injury trouble.
Lukaku had misfired in the final third prior to an extended spell on the sidelines with rumours suggesting Tuchel was set to dip into the market for a new striker come January to bolster his attacking ranks.
