Juventus have reportedly made an approach to sign Chelsea striker Timo Werner on loan with the Turin giants keen on landing the Germany international this summer.
Werner has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge and could be deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel who has brought in Raheem Sterling from Manchester City to bolster his forward lineup.
According to a report from The Guardian, it is claimed that Juventus have approached Chelsea about signing Werner in a loan deal for the upcoming season with Chelsea expected to struggle should they want to sell Werner on a permanent basis.
The striker’s pay package, around £275,000 a week, would be a stumbling block in a possible move away from the Bridge in a permanent transfer and this makes a loan move more feasible with Juventus credited with a strong interest in the 26-year-old.
Werner’s former club RB Leipzig and Premier League outfit Newcastle United are also in the mix for the Chelsea first-team outcast while Juventus have zeroed in on the German as an alternative to priority target Álvaro Morata.
