Jorginho will stay for ‘at least four more years’ at Chelsea says his agent Joao Santo.
The Chelsea midfielder signed for Chelsea last season from Serie A club Napoli and was unveiled along with his manager at the time Maurizio Sarri, Jorginho played under Sarri for three years at Napoli and followed him to Chelsea rejecting Premier League champions Manchester City.
Chelsea started the season brightly going on an unbeaten run in the first 19 competitive games but as results suffered Jorginho became a target by Chelsea fans who were tired of Sarri’s possession-based football. Famously there were chants of ‘f**k Sarriball’ by large sections of Chelsea fans.
The Brazil-born Italian though has started this season brightly and has won over the Chelsea fans with his performances even though there was the talk of him following Sarri to Juventus. Jorginho has kept his place at the base of the midfield but Lampard has encouraged him to try more killer balls rather than just short passes.
His agent has now spoken of Jorginho remaining at the club at least in the near future and also about the Juventus speculation
He told Radio Kiss Kiss of the Juve speculation: “No, nothing of the sort happened.
“We have a mid-to-long-term project with Chelsea, similar to when he joined Hellas Verona and then Napoli.
“There are five years left on his contract and let’s say he’d like to stay for at least another four years.”
“I think I had a fantastic first season and it was fundamental for my growth process,” said Jorginho.
“I am stronger in defense now, I go into challenges with more determination and control the game.
“The Premier League has forced me to develop different skills.”
