Chelsea midfielder Jorginho was left feeling as though the Blues had lost to 10-man Arsenal following second-half “mistakes” which incidentally cost them two points in Tuesday’s entertaining 2-2 draw.
The West London outfit was pegged back twice in their own backyard despite having a numerical advantage over the duration of an hour following David Luiz’s red card. The 31-year-old ex-Chelsea defender was dismissed after fouling Tammy Abraham in the box and giving away the penalty.
Italian midfielder Jorginho then converted from the resulting spot-kick, only for Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli to wipe away the lead at the end of a lung-busting run in the 63rd minute of the game.
Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta then prodded the hosts back ahead inside the final 10 minutes but another Spanish full-back Hector Bellerin conjured a quick response with only Arsenal’s second shot of the game, forcing Frank Lampard’s men to rue a missed opportunity to earn all three points.
The London derby ended 2-2 but the 27-year-old Jorginho explained that the feeling was that Chelsea lost the game as they threw away their cushioned lead, “We feel like we lost the game, We had the game in our hands, then in the last second conceded a goal when we shouldn’t. It’s hard. We need to move forward.
He also further added the result for the game was because Chelsea players may have failed to concentrate and made a few errors, “I don’t think it’s confidence because we played well and were controlling the game. Something about concentration maybe. In these kinds of games, you lose in moments. We made mistakes. That is it. These big games are like this. You can win and lose the game in the details.”
