Jorginho opened up on the penalty technique and the deserved win against Tottenham

Jorginho’s only penalty goal earned Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea the deserved three points as they beat Tottenham 1-0 on Thursday night. The Italian midfielder made no mistake to convert the penalty. Post-match he talked about the technique he uses in his penalty and how Thomas Tuchel has been making the team put in hard work to earn three points in each game.

Jorhingo has been unable to score two out of five penalties he has taken this current season in the Premier League. He discussed Tuchel making sure if he is going to take the penalty or not and that he said he was very confident to do it.

‘It feels very good,’ he said.‘We worked hard. We knew it would be a tough game, it was a derby against a very good team. We deserved the win,” said Jorginho as per Chelsea Official Website.

‘The first half was good. We created chances and could have scored more goals. We maybe could have made better choices in the last few minutes, that’s something to improve, but we just need to keep working the way we are doing and then we will see the results.

‘I felt okay before the penalty,’ added Jorginho. ‘I have kept working on it, kept training, so I was feeling confident. I changed the technique because I felt that way could be better, and it worked. You saw the result.’

Chelsea dominated the whole game- allowing Chelsea to not take any big chances in the game. The midfielder has started every game since Tuchel was appointed as the manager. He dictated the whole game from the middle of the pitch and feels that the manager’s tactics are paying off well.

‘The message he is giving on what he wants is clear,’ explained Jorginho. ‘We had our minds open to understanding what he wanted as quickly as possible because we had no time to waste.

‘When you have a group of guys that is open to new ideas, to learn, to improve, and everyone with the same target, it’s easy to work. This group was humble to accept what he was coming to give to us. ‘We need to keep being humble and never think it is enough. We haven’t done anything. When you feel comfortable it is a moment to drop. We need to stay calm, keep working hard and then the results are a consequence of what we are doing every day.’

Jorginho said how the team welcomed Tuchel in open arms and was open to the strategic ideas Tuchel implemented. But he also acknowledges that they haven’t won anything and must be focused on the upcoming games. Chelsea will face Sheffield United in their Premier League away fixture ahead.
