Italian giants Juventus have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Chelsea FC midfielder Jorginho this summer. These recent developments come just days after the sacking of the Old Lady’s recent manager Maurizio Sarri.
Sarri, who had coached Chelsea FC during the 2018-19 season, had been eager on signing his former player in Jorginho for Juventus ahead of next season. However, with the Italian being given the axe following Juventus’s exit in the Last-16 of the Champions League at the hands of Lyon, the Serie A giants have no further interest in pursuing a move for the 28-year old Jorginho.
Juventus soon announced former player Andrea Pirlo as their new first-team manager. According to reports, Pirlo will prioritize the signing of highly-rated Italian starlet Luca Tonali. The youngster who plays for newly relegated Serie B outfit Brescia has garnered interest from Inter Milan and Manchester United as well.
The future of Jorginho at Stamford Bridge beyond this season remains doubtful. The Italian international has not been a consistent performer for Frank Lampard’s side during the 2019-20 league campaign. With just two assists in 31 league outings, the 28-year old has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea FC.
Instead, 19-year old midfield prospect Billy Gilmour has emerged as a potential first-team starter for the Blues in recent times. The Scott has impressed Lampard with his high work-rate and endless running on the pitch to claim a spot in Chelsea FC’s starting XI.
