Joao Felix’s agent is pushing for him to sign for Aston Villa over Chelsea with the Midlands outfit likely to emerge as the frontrunners for the forward’s services.
Atletico chief executive Miguel Angel Gil has sounded out that Felix is keen to leave the club in his remarks to the press last week and it is said that the Spanish capital outfit are ready to listen to offers.
According to a report from Sky Sports, it is claimed that while it is North London giants Arsenal who are leading the five-horse race to sign the Atletico Madrid forward, Aston Villa could be set for a boost in their pursuit of Felix.
The player’s agent Jorge Mendes is working behind the scenes to ensure his client makes a move to Villa Park where Mendes enjoys a strong relationship with the owners – billionaires Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens.
Mendes had been key to Villa appointing Unai Emery as their manager and the Portuguese agent could be in line to help the club in another major coup by landing Felix’s coveted signature from Atletico.
