Joao Felix could be on his way back to England after recent Pochettino snub

According to ESPN, Portuguese forward Joao Felix could potentially return to England as he has been offered to Premier League side Newcastle United.

Felix finds himself without a clear future, after being unexpectedly sidelined by Chelsea at the end of the season. Atletico Madrid, his parent club, considers him surplus to requirements and is actively looking to offload him.

While there has been interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Felix has expressed a desire to remain in the Premier League and play Champions League football with Newcastle.

Atletico is open to negotiating another loan deal, involving a modest fee, while the Magpies would cover his weekly wages of approximately £200,000.

However, the financial aspect poses a challenge as Newcastle manager Eddie Howe understands the club’s struggles in terms of wages. Finding a middle ground on the salary may be necessary for a potential agreement.

Felix is currently enjoying his holiday in Ibiza while his agent and Atletico Madrid work on determining his future.  The 23-year-old believed that Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly would exercise the option to make his six-month loan deal permanent this summer.

However, he has now become the first victim of the new managerial regime under incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea. During his loan spell, the Blues covered Felix’s wages in full, amounting to £9.7 million.

Initially, he made a strong impression at the club but saw limited game time towards the end of the season. The Portuguese star appeared in 20 matches throughout his spell at Stamford Bridge.
