Rumored Chelsea FC target Jan Oblak has refused to delve into speculation regarding a possible move to Stamford Bridge this summer. The Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is wanted by Frank Lampard at Chelsea FC as Kepa’s replacement ahead of next season.
Oblak addressed the recent rumor-mongering in a recent interview by outlining his current intention of playing out Atletico’s Champions League campaign this season. The Spanish side are due to face RB Leipzig in the Quarter-final of the European competition. The Slovenian international is keen on securing silverware for his side and remains focused on achieving that objective.
“This is not the time for that, now it’s Leipzig. The balance of the season I do when the last game is over and hopefully we have three left. Then there will be time to talk. But first, Leipzig. I really want to pass.”
The 27-year old’s remarks do not indicate his clear intent of extending his stay at the Wanda Metropolitano beyond this summer. There might be a chance that Oblak may be open to signing for the Blues after Diego Simeone’s men end their 2019-20 campaign.
Oblak has made his name known across the world as one of the finest goalkeepers in the game. However, an attempt to bring him to Chelsea FC would cost Frank Lampard a hefty transfer offer. Atletico Madrid are believed to be reluctant on letting their star player depart for less than €120 million.
