Italian side Sampdoria are rumoured to be eyeing up a swoop for Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu following his return to the Chelsea fold this summer.
The young Welshman spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Serie A outfit Venezia, making 29 appearances for them in top-flight action, but faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge beyond the ongoing transfer window.
With the Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel busy on his hunt for defensive reinforcements this summer to shore up his backline by bringing in Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, Ampadu is unlikely to find himself as a part of the manager’s plans for the upcoming season.
According to ClubDoria, it is claimed that Sampdoria are mulling over making an approach to sign Ampadu from the Chelsea camp with Tuchel possibly open to sending out the 21-year-old on another loan spell for further development.
Sampdoria have parted ways with both Maya Yoshida and Giangiacomo Magnani over the course of this summer and the Italian outfit view Ampadu as a viable replacement before the next season kicks off.
