Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic suffered a disappointment as he featured throughout for Croatia in the Nation’s League match.
The player of the year for Chelsea 2019-20 completed 59 passes (93.7%) with one key ball and one successful dribble. He also won seven of 11 duels with an admirable six defensive interventions too.
Croatia played against Portugal where they were hammered with a 4-1 defeat with key players missing the game from both sides. It was a disastrous night for Croatia with Portugal outplaying them in every position.
On the other hand, N’golo Kante and Olivier Giroud featured against Sweden. Both were in the starting line up with Giroud only playing till the half time. Kante was on the pitch for 90 mins, while Giroud was substituted by Steven Nzonzi in injury time, shortly after Griezmann had missed the penalty kick.
Sweden proved to be a stubborn opponent although both Giroud and Griezmann linked up well with each other on numerous occasions. France won the match with a wonderful solo goal from Kylian Mbapppe.
Chelsea star, Kante dominated in the midfield battle giving little space for Swedish players while Giroud couldn’t impress, as he failed to score for France.
Chelsea duo Mason Mount and Kai Havertz were unused subs for England against Spain. But the new summer signing, Timo Werner scored brilliantly to give England the lead against Spain.
