Inter Milan are ready to extend Romelu Lukaku’s loan by another year with the Belgium international in line for another spell at San Siro, according to a fresh claim by Sky Sports Italy.
Another loan stint for the Italian giants could set the stage for Inter to eye a permanent agreement in 2024 as Chelsea look to cash in on the striker who failed to make an impact for the west London club.
The Belgium international scored 15 goals from 44 appearances on his return to Stamford Bridge in summer of 2023 but a controversial interview led to the Blues parting ways with him on a loan transfer to Inter.
However, things have also not gone well since he made the move back to the Serie A with the 29-year-old’s recurring injury troubles curtailing his time out on the pitch which made his future at Inter subject to much speculation.
The injury has forced Lukaku to be sidelined for his nation Belgium’s first game at the ongoing World Cup with doubts persisting over whether he will return before the knockout stages and feature for Roberto Martinez’s men.
