Serie A champions Inter Milan are claimed to be confident of keeping hold of Romelu Lukaku beyond this summer’s transfer window amid Chelsea showing interest in their former striker.
The Belgian international has been linked with a big-money return to west London this summer with the Blues boss Thomas Tuchel looking to bring in a new No.9 in time for the next season’s start.
Lukaku was one of Inter Milan’s most influential players last season during their title-winning heroics and his superb run of form heading into the Euros with the Belgium squad has made Chelsea take notice of an ex-Stamford Bridge player who last turned out for Manchester United in the Premier League.
Reports from The Express, meanwhile, suggest that the Italian giants are hopeful that Belgium forward will extend his stay at San Siro despite Antonio Conte calling it quits at the club this summer and his replacement Simone Inzaghi’s appointment giving birth to talk that a number of star players will be departing.
Moroccon wing-back Achraf Hakimi has already said his goodbyes with the player sealing a transfer to French outfit Paris Saint-Germain who had to fend off interest from Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea to land his signature.
