Chelsea’s hopes of re-signing their former striker Romelu Lukaku in this summer’s transfer window have been dealt a hammer blow by Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta who has downplayed talk of the player exiting San Siro.
The Belgium international forward remains Thomas Tuchel’s desired target for the transfer window currently in full swing with the Chelsea boss keen on improving his existing options up top on the pitch.
Lukaku’s influential showings for club and country over the past year has made the former Manchester United man one of the most feared strikers in world football and Chelsea had made an ambitious plan to lure him back to Stamford Bridge ahead of the next season.
Inter Milan’s troubles on the financial front has forced the Serie A giants into offloading star wing-back Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain and the exit of the title-winning coach Antonio Conte over the summer window plans.

Reports from Goal claim Marotta has rubbished any speculation doing the rounds as of late that a cash-strapped Inter Milan outfit might be willing to part ways with the Belgian with the Blues in line to table a big-money offer for Lukaku’s services.
“From our side, we can yes absolutely, Lukaku is not for sale. Lukaku is an important piece on the chessboard available to Simone Inzaghi.”
