Chelsea’s talented winger Callum Hudson Odoi opens up on not being recovered fully from an Achilles injury that he got more than 18 months back. The setback he received due to the injury on his Achilles tendon was in the month of April in 2019 while he was playing against Burnley in the Premier League.
The injury made him spend around five months on the sidelines and he returned to the ground in that year’s September month. Since his return, the Chelsea youngster believes that he has not been playing with his full form and hasn’t reached his peak yet.
Hudson-Odoi has played 42 games in all competitions since his return from injury. He has been dealing with several minor injuries- the latest being a hamstring injury that sidelined him throughout the first two months of the current year.
“I still feel to myself that I’m still improving, obviously still trying to get more strength in the calf, which I lost a lot of muscle from, but I feel like I’m getting back to my best,” he told BT Sport as quoted by Goal reports.
“Hopefully, sooner or later, I’ll be back to normal as I was before, but I just want to keep improving, keep working hard daily and keep getting better day-by-day.”
Hudson-Odoi expressed about gaining back his form as he scored for the England U21 team’s 3-1 win in the Euros qualifier against Andorra. He said that their team had a point to prove as they failed to win against Andorra in the previous month and ended ina 3-3 draw.
On asking about moving from the junior to the senior England team, he said that he wants to establish in the national team under Gareth Southgate.
