How Chelsea Could Line-Up Against London Rivals Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea entertains London side Tottenham Hotspur as the battle ensues at Stamford Bridge at the weekend. The home side (Chelsea) would aim to return to winning ways when they take on Jose Mourinho’s men at home.

Chelsea is just a point above Spurs in the League Standings having gone four games without a win in the Premier League.

The match comes at a period of time when Chelsea and Frank Lampard is having a growing injury list to deal with.

Here Chelseacore.com, evaluates how Chelsea could line-up at home against Tottenham Hotspur

Out: Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Achilles), N’golo Kante (adductor)

Doubtful: Tammy Abraham (ankle), Callum Hudson Odoi (hamstring) Andreas Christensen (facial) and Christian Pulisic (groin).

Chelsea outperformed Spurs with three defenders at the back with the 3-4-3 diamond formation deployed December. It would be a surprise if Chelsea’s boss (Lampard) did not return to that formation for this clash at the Bridge.

This tactical change could see Antonio Rudiger (goal scorer against Leicester City with a brace in the 2-2 draw), Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori start in defence.

Reece James and Marcus Alonso will play from the wing-back positions. Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic will partner at the centre of Chelsea midfield as a result of N’golo Kante’s adductor injury while also slipping against Arsenal in the 2-2 home draw last month.

Christian Pulisic and English star Callum Hudson-Odoi are doubtful and this should see William and Mason Mount form a combo in Chelsea’s attacking third.

The likes of William and Mason Mount may line-up closer to first-choice striker Tammy Abraham hoping that the young striker recovers from his ankle injury.

Olivier Ground could start against Tottenham Hotspur if Abraham fails to pass a fitness test. This is more probable to happen as Michy Batshuayi failed to shine (perform) at home against the visiting Manchester United.
