It is Crystal Palace who emerged the winners from the three-way contest to land the signature of Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher on loan with Palace beating out the likes of Leeds United and Newcastle United.
Reports from Chelsea’s official website confirm that the 21-year-old Gallagher has departed the Blues to sign for Patrick Vieira’s Selhurst Park outfit in a season-long loan agreement this summer.
Interest in courting the young playmaking talent’s services in this summer’s transfer window had been rampant amongst some of the Premier League clubs on the back of Gallagher impressing during his previous loan stint away from Stamford Bridge.
The youngster had spent the 2020-21 season in a season-long deal at West Brom who could not manage to service the drop zone in their first season back to top-flight football, however, Gallagher was a standout performer for The Baggies with his showings in the centre of the park.
It was understood that Thomas Tuchel was keen on Gallagher exiting Chelsea this summer for a loan move elsewhere so that the highly-promising talent earns regular minutes on the football pitch before his return to the Bridge next summer.
