New Chelsea FC signing Hakim Ziyech has been tipped to thrive and become a fan favourite at the Premier League club by former Ajax team-mate Anwar El Ghazi.
El Ghazi, who now plays for Premier League side Leicester City, has heaped praise on Ziyech and has backed the Moroccan international to become a star player for the Blues when he arrives at the club this summer. Ziyech became new Chelsea FC coach Frank Lampard’s first signing when a deal was agreed upon by the Blues and Ajax in February. The player was signed for a reported sum of £33million and is set to join the London based club in the upcoming transfer window.
EL Ghazi claimed that despite Ziyech’s small frame, the player is very agile and fast on the ball. His dribbling skills and shooting ability have seen him become a favourite among Ajax fans, who will no doubt be sad to see their star player leave the club at the end of the current campaign. Ziyech was an important figure in Ajax’s run to the semi-finals in last season’s UEFA Champions League. El Ghazi expects his former team-mate to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge and entertain the Premier League viewers with his performances.
The praise showered on the player by El Ghazi comes shortly after former Manchester United FC manager Louis van Gaal claimed that Chelsea FC had signed a fantastic player in Ziyech. Noting his development at Ajax as a team player, the former Dutch football team manager stated that Ziyech also scores a number of goals while assisting his teammates and would fit perfectly into Frank Lampard’s plans for his team-building process at The Blues.
Chelsea are currently in the fourth position in the Premier League table and will be hoping to nail down a Champions League spot with the restart of the current Premier League season set to get underway on 17th June. The opportunity to play Champions League football would be a huge incentive for Lampard to lure new players to the club, with the manager being interested in signing a number of talented prospects such as Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner.
