Gus Poyet urges Chelsea to bring in Barcelona striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang

Gus Poyet has urged Chelsea to bring in Barcelona striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang this summer to line up a replacement for the outgoing Timo Werner.

Werner completed his move to RB Leipzig earlier this week with the Germany international forward, who endured a frustrating spell in the Premier League with Chelsea, heading back to the Bundesliga with his former club.

With Werner following Romelu Lukaku out the exit door at Stamford Bridge in this summer’s transfer window, there are expectations that the Blues manager Thomas Tuchel could be looking to sign a fresh face for his squad.

According to the ex-Chelsea winger Gus Poyet, Thomas Tuchel’s side should eye up a surprise move for the former Arsenal talisman Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang who finds himself on the fringes of the Barcelona ranks after the summer signing of Robert Lewandowski.

The 33-year-old Aubameyang is reckoned to be a good fit for the Chelsea side by Poyet in the latter’s comments to Lord Ping with Chelsea likely to dip into the market for attacking reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

‘Aubameyang would be perfect for Chelsea.

‘He looks happy and back to his best scoring goals.’
