Graham Potter refused to rule out new signings in the January transfer window to bolster his Chelsea side which has been on top form of late under the newly appointed head coach.
The west London giants have been without the services of midfield general N’Golo Kante since August due to a hamstring issue while Mateo Kovacic has too struggled with fitness levels this season.
Despite bringing in Denis Zakaria on the summer’s deadline day from Juventus in a loan transfer, there are rumours that Chelsea remain on the search for reinforcements to freshen their engine room when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
It has been a hectic start to life at Stamford Bridge for the former Brighton manager Potter who was hired to replace Thomas Tuchel last month after Chelsea endured a shaky run of form under the latter’s charge.
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is likely to provide his new appointment with the financial backing to dip into the transfer market come January and Potter when quizzed upon his plan chose to remain coy, as quoted by a report from The Evening Standard.
“I’ve not thought about the transfer window.
Thanks for reminding me of that! I’ve been busy with three matches in a week, but my answer is always that any club has to be, when the window is open, looking for options and how they can improve. But my job as head coach is to help the players that are here and help them improve.
“You can see from the team today that there are a lot of positives, but we are not at our maximum, but that is exciting as well because we can help the team and individuals get better.”
