Graham Potter confirms Hakim Ziyech’s return after deadline day move collapse

Chelsea manager Graham Potter confirmed Hakim Ziyech’s return after the winger’s deadline day move to Paris Saint-Germain collapsed due to the incorrect submission of documents.

PSG were critical of Chelsea’s behavior during the talks to sign Ziyech in a short-term loan deal with the Morocco international arriving in Paris for his medical and completing the transfer in the final hours of the January window.

The loan deal, however, fell through with the French footballing authorities unwilling to ratify the transfer and speculation has been rife over Ziyech’s future at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season.

Ziyech had been keen to head out the exit door in search of regular game time with the former Ajax man making just four starts in top flight football over the course of this season.

As quoted by a report from Sky Sports, the Blues head coach Potter said that Ziyech will be back in the Chelsea squad ahead of Friday night’s Premier League contest at home to Fulham.

“He’s back in the country. He trained this morning. These stories aren’t the first, they won’t be the last.

“He’s a professional player and understands the situation. He’s committed to us and available for the squad against Fulham. He will be an important player for us for the rest of the season.”
