Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard seems to be delighted with the French striker, Olivier Giroud’s reaction to Chelsea’s summer signings.
The media speculated about taking an exit door from Stamford Bridge with the arrival of German striker, Timo Werner. But Giroud has taken this in a good way and his response towards Chelsea’s plans is very positive.
Getting limited opportunities under Frank Lampard this season despite his ruthless form at the end of the previous season is naturally harsh on him.
The Frenchman worked his way back into the starting XI of Chelsea after his decision to leave the club failed in the winter transfer window. Since then, he was ruthless in front of the goals scoring back to back goals that benefitted the Blues.
Still, Werner was signed from the Bundesliga club, RB Leipzig. He is even getting more down the pecking order behind young Tammy Abraham too.
The 33-year-old’s attitude has impressed Lampard thoroughly. in an interview, he talks about noticing how Giroud motivates the on-field players from the bench. He thinks that these small things are huge for the team and appreciates that.
‘With Oli [Giroud], and I keep talking about squad members, when he’s not playing I keep hearing him behind me on the bench shouting for Tammy, encouraging, backing his team-mate, and those things are huge,’ Lampard told.
The French International has eyed to make a return in the Euro France squad but has not featured in any Premier League match so far with only getting some minutes in last day’s West Brom match.
In the Carabao cup, he got the opportunity to come as a substitute and he scored as well in the 6-0 thrashing of Barnsley. Only time will say if Giroud will get more game time this season or not.
