It is now Frank Lampard’s time to make the tough calls for the team. The Chelsea boss will face some great difficulties to name his starting eleven with so many talents on his hand ready to play.
Unfortunately, not everyone will be present in the season opener against Brighton due to injury issues.
This might open up a chance for the French striker, Olivier Giroud to start the game.
Giroud has been left out of the squad for numerous occasions last season. But he came strongly with 6 goals in 9 matches that helped Chelsea to seal the 4th position in the league.
The absence of Christian Pulisic due to hamstring injury will boost his chances of getting into the first XI of Lampard.
Pulisic has been in fine form for Chelsea but his injury has given a major concern to the Blues.
“It’s going to be touch and go for the start of the season,” he said ahead of their Champions League match against Bayern Munich last month. “Six weeks probably gets into the start of the season, but we have to treat the injury right.
“In the big scheme of things, when Christian reflects on his first season, he should be very happy with his improvement levels.
“He’s had the most goals and assists in his career, and that’s in his first season in the Premier League.
“We’ll get him fit and get him ready. If he misses the first one or two games, we’ll have a firing Christian and hopefully as hungry as he looked after the restart.”
Lampard has a few options to start from the left if indeed the ex-Borussia Dortmund man misses out, including summer signing Werner.
