Chelsea’s new manager, Thomas Tuchel had firmly declared that he will be eyeing the Champions League and FA Cup coming a week later in this year. He talks about his opinion to play experienced players ahead of the young ones and says that he is still learning about those who have played brilliantly under former coach, Lampard.
Tuchel’s first game being Chelsea’s manager saw a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge. Two bright youngsters that Lampard favoured have been put out of sight and when questioned, Tuchel cleared all the doubts.
“I wanted to take the weight off their shoulders,” Tuchel said.
“I am absolutely sure they can handle the weight. I have no trust issues. I wanted to give the responsibility in this special moment to a bit more experienced players and have them in hand to have strong guys from the bench.
Billy Gilmour is more optimistic to perform well in the match. Tuchel also has a good impression of the Scottish kid as he claims him to be a very strategic guy. Tuchel talks about experimenting with Gilmour’s physical level to see if he can compete in the center of the field unlike before.
“For Billy the same in a different personal moment for him because he didn’t play the biggest role like Mason did in the last weeks. Maybe the decision for Mason yesterday was the toughest and we spoke about this in person,’ he said as per Goal reports.
“For Billy I have a good impression. He is a very strategic guy. A very high level of game understanding. Very good in the first contact. Very clever in positioning. We’ll see if he has the physical level, if he can compete in the centre of the field in the most physical league in the world.
“We will see that, but he is super quick, super fast with his feet. Super fast with his decision making and very, very good in positioning.”
He insists that the team’s focus and particularly his focus will be disturbed if only the player-coach relationship is emphasized. He stresses the fact of pushing everyone to their limits and says that success is also to make the fans in the stadium happy.
He claims that the fans visiting the stadium should be excited to come to Stamford Bridge, people should be excited to watch the Blues and should feel the special energy and atmosphere in the squad.
