Gary Neville Wants Chelsea To Give Lampard Some More Time

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has admitted that he would prefer if Chelsea football club gives Frank Lampard some more time to build his team instead of making a hasty decision.

The Red Devils are enduring a tough time just like Chelsea at the start of the season as they both have five points in four games. The duo is usually up there competing for the title but it may seem that this season it would be difficult to even qualify for the top four.

The Blues are currently in jeopardy with Frank Lampard as the 41-year-old has only one season of management experience when he was with Derby County last season in the Championship. Certainly, Chelsea is a much bigger and better job in terms of magnitude but one positive is that Lampard is giving young players a chance to showcase their abilities on the big stage.

Along with that, the transfer ban was something that wasn’t helpful as the West London side were unable to sign any new players over the next two transfer windows. And ex-Manchester United right-back Gary Neville has called for the Chelsea faithful to have some patience.

The 41-year-old wrote on his column on Sky Sports that Lampard is trying something and there needs to be some time before the results actually show, “Like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, I think the same for Frank Lampard at Chelsea. We are seeing Lampard try to change what has been a machine for the last 15 years at Chelsea. They’ve been a physical machine that’s had that experience. You’ve always looked at Chelsea and though they know their way around the pitch. They are wise, they are mature. You look at this team now and it has less experience. It has less know-how and it has more youth and immaturity about it. With that comes more mistakes and some bad results. Lampard is a young manager, but having made the decision to appoint him, it doesn’t seem right that they’re not going to go with them and back them with what they are trying to do – because he’s trying to change the culture at the club. If you are trying to do what Lampard’s doing, which is bringing through the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and other academy-type players, you are going to have to give him time. “
