Fulham vs Chelsea – Chelsea Predicted Lineups | EPL 2020-21

Chelsea are back in the Premier League finally after a gap of almost a couple of weeks as they will gear for another London derby. The Blues will travel to Craven Cottage to face ailing Fulham who have struggled in the return to the Premier League so far. Lampard has finally a full squad to choose from, as summer signing Hakim Ziyech will return from his injury.

The Blues of Chelsea haven’t been in the best of forms lately and the break came at just the right time for them. They will look to get their mojo back as Fulham should be a cakewalk for the Chelsea side looking at both the teams. Lampard will have a few tough decisions to make as the manager of the Londoners as his job hangs in the balance as well.

Let us now have a look at how Frank Lampard might set his Chelsea side up against fellow Londoners Fulham in the Premier League.

THE 4-3-3

The 4-3-3 seems to be Frank Lampard’s favourite system and formation this season after a great summer for the club where they spent a lot of money. The attacking third in the Chelsea squad is one of the finest on paper but looked toothless while Ziyech was injured. The Moroccan’s presence might change the fortunes of the blue side of London, as he will create a lot of chances to score goals.

The likes of Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic need to be scoring the goals for Chelsea as they have failed to score in the recent past. The midfield has also looked flat at times with N’golo Kante doing all the stuff by himself with almost no help from others. Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount have to step up and help if Chelsea want to have any chance of finishing in the top four.

The defense has also looked shabby in recent games where Mendy hasn’t looked sharp as he used to when he joined the club a few months ago.

THE 4-2-3-1

The 4-2-3-1 is also a good option for Lampard to try out at Chelsea as they have looked weak in the midfield area. This system will allow them to dictate play in the midfield and also cover up defensively, where they have made some errors in their recent games. N’Golo Kante has been a fundamental part of this Chelsea side and will look to return to his best after a couple of poor outings.

Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma will again be in the limelight again as they need to get their act together in central defence. Silva has failed to take command of the team despite being the captain and needs to show the youngsters the way ahead. The full-backs will be important in such a game, where Fulham are likely to sit back and deep in their half.

THE 3-4-3

The 3-4-3 has also been used by Frank Lampard in his time at Chelsea, but it is highly unlikely to be used against Fulham. Chelsea should be expected to win this game easily and carry their surge in the Premier League ahead. But football is a game of ifs and buts, only time will tell if Chelsea take away all three points from Craven Cottage or not.
