Frank Leboeuf has urged Chelsea to move in for Leicester defender Wesley Fofana should the Blues not be able to strike an agreement for Jules Kounde this summer.
With Thomas Tuchel on the hunt for fresh faces to bolster his ranks at the back before the new campaign gets underway at Stamford Bridge, Leicester City’s young centre-back Wesley Fofana is said to be another name on the shopping list.
Speaking on ESPN FC Extra Time, ex-France international Leboeuf has backed Chelsea to go after Fofana who could prove to be an excellent piece of transfer business for the west Londoners despite reluctance expected from the Leicester camp to part ways with their player.
“I think Kounde is a very good option. If not, Fofana. Fofana from Leicester is an absolutely fantastic defender. That would be a fantastic option as well [for Chelsea]. I’m not sure Leicester would let him go, but he’s a great player.”
Kounde, the 23-year-old France international centre-back, has been a long-standing target in the transfer market for Chelsea who are in dire need of defensive reinforcements before the start of the new season.
A deal for the Sevilla star could run into trouble, according to the recent rumour mill, with the centre-back set for a major surgery coupled with increasing interest in his services from Catalan giants FC Barcelona.
