Frank Lampard’s Reaction To Draw Against Sheffield United

Chelsea once again got off to a flying start as they scored two goals in the first half of the game against Sheffield United on Saturday but the Blues squandered their two-goal lead getting just one point out of the possible three.

Tammy Abraham netted a brace in the first period to put the home side in cruise control of the game but Chelsea failed to build on that commanding position on the game as they allowed the visiting team to get a goal back just after the restart. An unfortunate Kurt Zouma then plunked the ball into his own net in the dying minutes of the game to share the spoils between the two teams when Chelsea was on course for their first win at Stamford Bridge under Frank Lampard.

Even the 41-year-old bemoaned the fact that Chelsea let the two-goal lead slip away as he reacted disappointingly in his post-match interview. Lampard told reporters, “It was under control, it is our fault for gifting them a goal in the first minute of the second half. It’s a similar story already. The game should have been comfortable and we have dropped two points. We want to win games, the emergence of youth is one thing but winning games is another. When you are 2-0 up at half-time you should win the game. We had more than enough on the pitch to win that game from 2-0 up. There is no chance that that game should swing like that. We gave them the possibility to hurt us.”

Chelsea now has five points from their opening four games of the season and sit in the eighth spot in the Premier League table.
