Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard has given injury updates on his left-back, Ben Chilwell as he was forced to take him off during the West Ham game. Chilwell suffered an injury due to his rolling ankle in just the initial 10 minutes of the game and fans are anxious about his return date.
He picked up the injury when he collided with West Ham’s striker, Jarrod Bowen. He was then replaced by Emerson Palmieri as the Blues went on to defeat the Hammers 3-0. Thiago Silva opened the scoreline with a goal while Tammy Abraham struck two late goals to secure the win.
With this win, Lampard and his men climbed to the fifth position of the Premier League table.
The Blues’ coach talked about the potential severity of the injury and said that scans will take place very soon on Chilwell’s ankles.
“I expect he’ll be doubtful for Arsenal. He turned his ankle and tried to carry on but it was too painful. We’ll have a scan tomorrow to try and see how bad the injury is. We’ll update after,”said Lampard as per football.London news.
Chelsea’s full-back, Reece James was also unavailable for the West Ham match due to the knee injury but Lampard seemed confident to get back his two full-backs before the congested festive season schedule.
“Reece and Chilly have been doing really well, we hope their injuries are not that bad and they will be in and around the games over Christmas,” Lampard added.
Lampard knows that his team will need the attacking mindsets of Chilwell and Reece James but also appreciated teh efforts of Cesar Azpilicueta and Emerson in the West Ham match. He was indeed happy to keep the clean sheet as they moved closer to league leader, Liverpool.
